I am 24 years old! And my dreadies are one month old. I have been researching about dreads more and realize I am in for a long journey. I did not realize they would take so long to mature. For this first months, they have been a frizzy bird nest. Not attractive. But I am tempted to keep going by the call of the journey.
When I returned to work (a restaurant) I got a lot of mixed reactions. I explained quickly that I needed a few months for them to mature and look good. Some smiled and laughed about my eccentricity. Others were severely critical and gossipy. It is a lesson in who I can trust and who is superficial.
Anyway, I am covering up my roots a lot and headbands are working just fine. I wash them every two days and they oscillate between super dry and greasy. Battles!
